Elly De La Cruz could steal Silver Slugger from CJ Abrams with monster Reds finish

Elly De La Cruz of the Cincinnati Reds is chasing CJ Abrams of the Washington Nationals for the National League shortstop Silver Slugger Award, though Abrams currently leads in most offensive categories. De La Cruz ranks in the top three among qualified NL shortstops in homers, steals, OPS, and wRC+, but struggled in August with a .231 batting average and 83 wRC+. A strong September finish could help De La Cruz close the gap, though injuries earlier in the season and the Nationals' superior offensive lineup have made it difficult for him to catch up in counting stats like RBIs.
