Reds may have to trade for third base help to avoid another costly mistake

The Cincinnati Reds face a weak free-agent market at third base with options like Alec Bohm, Edmundo Sosa, and Jeimer Candelario all presenting significant drawbacks. The article suggests the team should instead pursue a trade, pointing to potential targets like Isaac Paredes from the Houston Astros or Brett Baty from the New York Mets, both of whom could become available due to roster constraints or organizational transitions. Ke'Bryan Hayes, despite elite defensive abilities, produced one of the worst offensive seasons for a third baseman in 85 years, making an upgrade necessary for the Reds' competitive prospects.
