Reds troll the WAR crowd as Sal Stewart wins NL Rookie of the Month (again)

Cincinnati Reds rookie Sal Stewart won his second NL Rookie of the Month award for August, batting .304 with eight home runs and 21 RBI. Stewart also won the honor in April after hitting .281 with nine home runs and 29 RBI. The Reds' social media team joked about Stewart's credentials by posting a fake "rWAR" stat of 51.3 (referencing Cincinnati's area code) in response to debates over whether St. Louis Cardinals prospect JJ Wetherholt was superior based on traditional WAR metrics. With 31 home runs and 105 RBI through most of the season and Wetherholt sidelined by injury, Stewart is considered the favorite for NL Rookie of the Year.
