Spencer Steer trade rumors look even worse after Reds' offensive collapse

Spencer Steer was generating trade interest before suffering a partial tear in his right wrist sheath in late July, but the injury has sidelined him for the remainder of the season and effectively eliminated any trade market for him. Since Steer went on the injured list, the Reds have compiled a 13-15 record with their offense ranking 20th in runs scored, 26th in on-base percentage, and 28th in wRC+. Steer has played multiple positions this season while providing power and baserunning value, ranking fifth on the team in home runs despite playing fewer than 100 games. The Reds' offensive struggles underscore how important Steer is to their lineup and defense, making it unlikely the team should pursue trading him once he recovers.
