Terry Francona's praise for the Brewers may reveal the Reds' 2027 blueprint

Cincinnati Reds manager Terry Francona praised the Milwaukee Brewers' defensive excellence and complementary roster construction as the Brewers pursue their fourth straight division title. Francona highlighted the Brewers' ability to convert plays into outs and avoid weak hitters, contrasting their approach with the Reds' defensive struggles and baserunning inefficiency. The Brewers rank third in the National League with plus-43 Defensive Runs Saved while the Reds sit last at minus-48, and Milwaukee leads in baserunning efficiency as well. Francona's comments suggest the Reds should focus on adding athletic, complementary role players around star shortstop Elly De La Cruz and pitcher Chase Burns to compete consistently in the division.
