JJ Bleday's 2026 season with the Cincinnati Reds was marked by a dramatic collapse in the second half that obscured his strong early performance. Through June 1st, Bleday posted a 1.053 OPS with 10 home runs in 31 games and won the NL Player of the Month Award for May, but from June 2nd onward he recorded the worst BABIP (.216) among 163 players with at least 300 plate appearances during that stretch. The Reds signed Bleday for $1.4 million with two years of team control remaining, and analysts believe he could produce significantly better results in 2027 if his batted-ball quality translates to hits at a more typical rate.
